Hi Siling and Tina,

Hope you are both well.

Its about 5 years since you organised the School Build trip for Glasgow University. We are thinking of another similar trip, so can you still offer the School Building experience. We are thinking of something like: 3 days of meeting NGO’s in Kathmandu, School Building project, short trek to Poon Hill or similar? Maybe with 12 participants.

If this is still a possibility what would be a rough cost.

Wow is the first and last word we can say. If you want a “real” holiday, go on this adventure, pack a sense of humour lots of patience and an ability to get on with other people in and out of the group. Do not expect any frills, live, breathe, smell as the people do, this is a once in a lifetime oppurtunity that you will never forget and dream about for a long time. The team are astute,caring and do a fantastic job and we had many a laugh with them. Throw away those awful Holiday Catalogues and go on this adventure of a lifetime, we would love to do it again! Tips Get Fit (really Fit), pack Wipes, Sun Block have a laugh

This is the second time we use The Responsible Travellers and I would highly recommend them. The trip itself was an amazing experience (thankfully I was not cycling) but the back up team were good at what they did – they improvised and made sure that we were well looked after and taken care of. The guides were knowledgable not only about the sites and history but also about the flora and fauna.

Looking forward to another adventure with them – and they have a few.

It was a fabulous trip. We had unseasonally-frequent rain, but the nice thing was that TRT were flexible enough to suggest alternative accommodation when we got too soggy. I would do the whole thing again (a bit fitter perhaps). Although we were mostly cycling at over 3600, the itinerary is carefully designed to get the maximum acclimatisation as you go along. Apart from Kamba La Pass. That’s a long old haul (1100m/24 km) very early on in the trip and requires bigtime endurance skills. But the back-up bus was always around and most of us hopped on it at some point or other. Tips: (1) take heavy-duty cream for your lips or you will suffer. (2) quick-dry cycle shorts do NOT dry quickly at these temperatures or altitude. I conditioned myself beforehand to wearing underwear under them and I’m glad I did (3) take spare pare of bike shoes/trainers in case of rain – soggy feet’s miserable! (4) be prepared for the biggest, most extraordinary landscapes ever – camera a must (5) don’t buy Chinese batteries, they’re crap – take loads with you (6) enjoy!

What a journey! The Responsible Traveller is the Tour company of choice. Caring, fun, eco-friendly, knowledgeable, professional and organized. We did not have to worry about a thing but ourselves and getting to Base Camp (Nov 2010) Mission accomplished! This was by far the best trip I have ever experienced! Tina, Syling, Pemba and Myla thank you so much for a life time of memories! I will highly recommend to all my friends. Once they see the pictures there all going to want to go! Helene Pinault

This trek was an excellent opportunity and introduction to Nepal. We can now say that we know how the Nepali live, their ways of life, habits and customs. Although sometimes the difference in accomodation and facilities was sometimes a shock compared to home. The Responsible Travellers have satisfied completely what I came looking for in Nepal. Namaste!

Thanks Tina and Siling for another fantastic trip. Definitely the friendliest staff I’ve had on any expedition ever, and a great climbing leader in Dawa.

I can definitely recommend TRT for trekking peaks: Mera North, Mera Central and the trekking summit in one fell swoop – can’t see any of the big trekking companies matching that!

We also climbed Island Peak as part of the trip, and here’s a short video of our journey in between as we crossed over the Amphu Labtse:

We selected The Responsible Travellers because of what they promised and their ethics and we were very pleased with our decision. Not only did they deliver but their team are dedicated, passionate and know what they are doing. Not only did most of us make it to our goal but all of us returned with a great experience and a few more new friends in Nepal.

It was nice to be on trek with a leader who is clearly held in high regard. Other people commented that they had found Siling very helpful & informative, these were not people on trek with the company, but others he had helped along the way

The responsible travelers is a great thing – particularly in a country where a lot of the other trekking agencies don’t seem to have a high regard for the environment. It is good to know that staff are well looked after and wear uniforms. The staff were excellent and key to our enjoyment of the trek. Rajendra was perfect as a guide in every way he thinks of everything, has all eventualities covered, a great sense of humour & patience
